I love being coached by Jay. He’s a remarkable human being who sees things that would never occur to me. He also makes working on my craft fun. Jay made me fall in love with acting all over again.
He has a special way of making Wednesday night feel like game night, while he gives you the tools to feel confident and capable. I couldn’t recommend this warm-hearted, sharp, witty, and brutally honest (in all the best ways) acting coach enough.

Jay’s unparalleled knowledge of the art of acting combined with his generosity and compassion make him a truly great teacher. He helped me cultivate fearlessness and trust in myself and it was he who opened the door for me to true self-expression. I’m grateful to have him as both teacher and friend.
– Trevor St. John
Jay definitely had an impact on me as an actor at an early age so I’m glad he remembers me as well.
– Miles Teller
Jay is a wonderful coach, perfect for the accomplished artist who is looking to refine and exercise her on-camera skills. He is very detail-oriented and never stops seeing all the small things that you can and should be doing to create the perfect audition or performance.
– Midori Nakamura
Jay’s coaching has had a profound impact on the way I read a script, the way I work with the camera, and the way I regard my acting partners in a scene. His technique helped me book my first television pilot.
– Jason Griffith
Jay is the simply the best teacher for film and television acting in New York. His sensitivity to working on camera and attention to detail is unsurpassed. Working privately with Jay helped me prepare for the web series “Handsome Town” and the short film “The Professor”, and his audition technique classes helped me land those roles. He pushes you to look more deeply at the script and to come to each scene fully loaded. Through his thorough, yet practical approach, Jay teaches you how to tackle even the most difficult scenes like a pro. He is truly a master at his craft.

I have literally grown up in Jay’s class, and continue to grow and develop as a person and an actor. Jay has seen me through a lot of life changes both professionally and personally. He has witnessed my growth and guided me all along, never letting me off the hook. I can’t get away with anything working with Jay, things I can usually get away with in other areas of my life, but never with Jay. He never let’s it be easy, because it shouldn’t be. He continues to inspire me to keep the work fresh, and the passion reignited. I would not be the actor, artist or person I am today without Jay as a teacher, guide and friend. To me, they are all one in the same, and continue to be equally rewarding.

I met Jay Goldenberg when he was my acting teacher at NYU. He’s an amazing teacher and coach. I always leave our work sessions feeling confident and very prepared for auditions. Working together has led to bookings on Law & Order: SVU and Blue Bloods.

Jay is an incredibly gifted and talented teacher. He gives each student guidance tailored to their specific strengths and weaknesses. He will help you go beyond the text and get to the heart of the matter in your work. With his years of experience, keen intellect, and huge heart he’ll take your work to the next level. You’ll be in good hands with Jay.

I had the pleasure studying with Jay Goldenberg for two years, and can 100 percent credit him for my success and growth in acting. From day one Jay holds you to standards the seem impossible. He expects you to work hard, and when you think you are there, you work some more. But that moment you meet his standards is worth more than all the Oscar nominations in the world. If you are looking for an easy class to take where you are showered with hazy feedback and illusive compliments, then do NOT study with Mr. Goldenberg. If you are ready to become the best actor you can possibly be, and work hard towards your passion, then Mr. Goldenberg is the right choice. He treats you not as a student, but as a working actor. You will not regret your time studying with Jay, and all of the priceless tools you will learn.

In 6 years of studying acting and countless teachers, Jay Goldenberg’s innate eye and ear for film and the actor’s pursuit, on and off, stands out above the rest. Full of good humor and heart, Jay’s ability to command a scene with such specificity is enlightening and stimulating. It is in an actor’s best interest to experience his expertise.

Jay Goldenberg pushed me to the next level. He took raw instincts and gave them structure. He taught me what questions to ask and how to stay present in the moment.

Jay was the first person to ever really challenge me to reach outside of my comfort zone and face my personal insecurities as a human being. He noticed things such as my awkward posture, stiff movement and clenched jaw when speaking; these traits were all things that were distracting and hindered the effectiveness of my performances. He challenged me to think about why I did those things and instructed me to work on exercises that would relax my body so I could completely come into my character. It’s been less than a year since I finished the program with him, however I truly believe that the changes in my body language, personal self esteem and confidence in my choices as a performer have helped me land more auditions, callbacks and jobs! I’m very thankful and feel blessed that I was able to take a class with him! Thank you for everything, Jay.

Jay provides the best teaching environment one could ask for – he is honest, direct, and provides specific feedback to every individual actor. And on top of that he’s hilarious. I highly recommend Jay Goldenberg to any performer.

Jay Goldenberg has a “keen” eye for seeing an Actor’s strengths and weaknesses and working with you to bring out the very best in you. He is one of the most committed, generous and supportive acting coach I’ve ever worked with.
